Traditional Indian Textiles

Injiri was founded by Chinar Farooqui with a desire to preserve the vast traditions of hand-weaving in India. For Chinar, it’s the story behind the textile - its origins and its development - that drives the work. Specializing in womenswear and textiles for the home, Injiri embraces the limitations of handweaving by celebrating the beauty of absolute simplicity.

The Work

For our first offering we chose the simplest fabric and silhouette to illustrate the purity of the craft: a petticoat inspired by Indian peasant skirts and a tie-front chemise in white cotton muslin.

Injiri’s handwoven textiles shine in their unadorned simplicity and the while muslin chemise and petticoat created for OST are no exception. Think of them as your base layer, a clean canvas for added adornment.

Each are available with chikankari embroidery upon request.
