The Vime Bag

A refined interpretation of the classic basket bag. Handwoven by the artisans of Atelier Vime in Vallabrègues, a village in Provence known for its long tradition of wicker craftsmanship, the Vime Bag features a bell-shaped silhouette, a caramel leather strap, and a subtle brass accent.

Materials & Craftsmanship

Natural wicker and leather.

Adjustable handles for hand or arm carrying.
Removable cotton pouch.

Vegetable-tanned full-grain calfskin. Chrome-free, chemical-free tanning using oak bark and other vegetal tanning agents.
The result is a leather with a warm camel color that develops a beautiful patina over time.

The handles are saddle-stitched and finished with hand-cut threads.The handle edges are finished with gum arabic, which is applied by hand several times, sanding between each application.

This piece is made to order in France.

ABOUT THE MAKER

Atelier Vime

The Atelier Vime, specializing in the craft of wickerwork, was established in Provence in 1878. The current owners, Benoit Rauzy and Anthony Watson, draw on this rich tradition and expertise to craft their collection of original home pieces. The atelier directly contributes to the preservation of the local craftspeople. The home collections are entirely handmade in France.
